What is a Forum?
A forum is an online discussion area where people can post questions, and other users can respond to or discuss topics with them. Forums are also sometimes known as Message Boards, Discussion Groups, or Bulletin Boards. To the left you can see our sample "Outdoor Living" Forum. Feel free to view the topics and reply, create a new topic or simply get a feel for the interaction.
Forums are excellent for:
- Enabling your customers to interact with each other via your website
- Managing a FAQ section easily for your customers
- Building an online community
- Perfect for Business with technical products or services and an active group of customers
Can the forum require customers to sign up to post?
By default no. The forums alone are open to anyone viewing the website. We can hide forums behind our Paid Content Logins. By using both features together, customers will have to sign up to get access to the forum. In our example to the left the "Members Only Forum" requires you to sign up for either a Free or Premium Membership to view the forum.
Can the functionality of the Forum be customized to work like social media? For instance to have profiles for each person in the forum?
No. Forums are intended to work within the site and capture content for you. It is not intended to replace a Facebook Group or more robust social media platform.
How many Forums can be created?
Once installed, you can create as many Forums and Topics as you like. Visitors to the site and customers can also add topics too (optional).
